About Us
When we founded the Ixchel Spanish School in 1999, we made it our goal to provide the highest achievable standard of service to our students. Within a just few years we've become one of the leading Spanish schools in Antigua Guatemala. And with good reason! Our teachers are well trained and experienced and our Spanish courses are second to none. Students make rapid progress in their new language and are very pleased with how much they can learn in just a few weeks.
The Ixchel Spanish School was also the pioneer in developing career-specific courses for professionals, which allow students to study exactly the kind of Spanish they need.
We realize that few things are more detrimental to a student's learning experience than being confined to a dark, stuffy room with a dozen other students, each shouting so their teachers can hear them over the general background noise. At the Ixchel Spanish School you won't have to put up with that kind of nonsense. We are located in a colonial-style house and all classes take place in and around a beautiful garden courtyard, complete with trees, flowers and a fountain.
Unlike most Spanish schools in Antigua Guatemala, we don't just teach a few hours of Spanish and then leave the students on their own. Extracurricular activities and excursions are an essential component of our courses so students can practice and apply their skills in realistic everyday situations and at the same time learn about the culture, customs and history of Latin America.
At the Ixchel Spanish School it is our goal to provide a full range of services. We work hard to make our students as comfortable as possible while they concentrate on learning Spanish and our students are generally very pleased with the service they receive.
