What Our Students Say ...

Andrew

Ixchel was very welcoming and the perfect way to settle into Antigua. Although two weeks is too short, it has been a great introduction to Spanish. I would recommend Ixchel to anyone wanting to learn Spanish, explore Antigua and learn about Guatemalan culture. I can't wait to come back!

Carrie

I had a very good experience at Ixchel Spanish School. My teacher Isabel was excellent! I only attended for 2 weeks, but I learned enough to have simple conversations in Spanish and to ask common questions and to understand the answers. The program was flexible but well organized. I appreciated the focus on grammar and vocabulary.

Frequently Asked Questions:

Ixchel Spanish School

How long has Ixchel Spanish School been in business?

Ixchel Spanish School was founded in 1999. In just a few years we've become one of the leading Spanish schools in Antigua Guatemala due to the quality of our Spanish courses, our innovative teaching techniques, and our professional organization.

Is Ixchel officially registered with the Ministry of Education and with INGUAT?

Yes, the school is registered with the Guatemalan Ministry of Education (registration number 125-2002) and with INGUAT (registration number 640-2002-D).

Ixchel is also accredited by the Universidad Rural de Guatemala, a private university in Guatemala City. Our cooperation with this university allows us to offer Spanish courses with college/university credits.

Where is Ixchel Spanish School located? Are you close to the city center?

Our building is located on 4a Avenida Norte #32. The Central Park is only four city blocks away and just about any place of interest in Antigua is within easy walking distance.

How can I pay for my course and other services you provide? Do you accept credit cards?

You can pay with US dollars, travelers checks or Guatemalan Quetzals. We also accept all major credit cards, but due to the high bank fees in Guatemala credit card payments carry an 8 percent surcharge.
