Immersion Spanish Courses at Ixchel Spanish School:
Credit Transfer
Spanish as a second language is becoming more and more important for many people of various professions and nationalities, especially in areas with a high percentage of Spanish speakers. Globalization of the economy and the ease of international travel is another reason why speaking Spanish is a valuable skill whose importance is only going to increase.
Many college and university students attend our courses and we realize the necessity for them to receive credits for their studies. Therefore we offer a special program in cooperation with Universidad Rural de Guatemala that allows students to get credits for the courses they take here at Ixchel Spanish School.
One-on-one Spanish lessons allow you to progress much more rapidly than group classes. Since you will receive several hours of individual instructions a day, live with a local family and be surrounded by native Spanish speakers around the clock, you'll have much more opportunity to practice your Spanish in realistic everyday situations and at the same time learn about the customs and culture of Latin America. Therefore, our total immersion Spanish program is a significantly faster and more efficient way of learning Spanish than any other kind of Spanish course!
Our program in the accredited format consists of 9 levels, from absolute beginner (Spanish 100) to the most advanced level (Spanish 302). Each course requires 50-75 hours of instructions and is good for 2-3 credits, for a total of up to 19 credits.
Students who wish to receive college credits must sign up at least one week before the first day of classes so they can be enrolled in Universidad Rural de Guatemala and all necessary arrangements can be made. Minimum duration of the course is two weeks at four hours of classes per day. Please see the price list for current rates.
After passing the final exam, you will receive your transcript from Universidad Rural de Guatemala. The documents will be notarized by the Foreign Ministry of Guatemala.
If you have questions about the program, contact us and we will assist you in any way we can.
