Immersion Spanish Courses at Ixchel Spanish School:
Spanish for Travelers
Traveling in a foreign country poses many challenges. Different customs, procedures and mentalities can make seemingly simple tasks time consuming and complicated. Add a foreign language you don't understand and the situation may become totally confusing and frustrating.
Speaking Spanish, if only on a basic level, will make traveling in Guatemala and other Spanish-speaking countries so much more enjoyable! Not only will you be able to deal with standard situations much more efficiently, you'll also communicate more easily with the people you meet and learn about the country, its culture, customs and history.
Spanish for Travelers is a course we designed specifically for students without previous knowledge of the Spanish language who want to learn enough Spanish to get by in Guatemala or other Latin American countries.
This course focuses on vocabulary and basic grammar you'll need to communicate in standard situations, like
- airports and bus terminals
- hotels and restaurants
- travel agencies and tourist information
- markets and stores
- banks
- post office, telephone and Internet cafes
- doctors, dentists and hospitals
and many other situations you're likely to encounter while you are traveling.
During your Spanish course you'll do more than just memorize lists of words and phrases! You will also learn basic grammatical concepts so you can build your own sentences, ask questions and — most important! — understand the replies.
To tie it all together, you will practice with your teacher in realistic conversations that cover a wide range of travel-related topics. With each class your skills will grow and you'll become more confident in your ability to communicate with Spanish speakers and find your way in unfamiliar territory.
Spanish for Travelers is aimed at beginning students with little or no knowledge of Spanish. The complete course is designed for 40-50 hours of class (typically about two weeks), but if you are in a hurry, we also offer a one-week version of this course (20-25 hours of class) that concentrates on the most important parts.
Taking a couple of weeks to learn Spanish before you hit the roads of Latin America will make a huge difference! Sign up for Spanish for Travelers and make your Guatemala trip an even more fascinating and memorable experience!
