Accommodations in Antigua Guatemala

Hotels in Antigua Guatemala

Traditionally, a family homestay is an integral part of every Spanish immersion course and most of our students choose this option to increase their exposure to native Spanish speakers. Not everyone is comfortable living in the home of a local family, however, and we can also arrange a room in a hotel for you.

As one of Guatemala's most popular tourist destinations, Antigua Guatemala is well prepared for international travelers and there are hotels for all tastes and budgets – from basic hostels to five-star hotels with all modern amenities. Many hotels – particularly upscale hotels – are situated in restored colonial buildings with beautiful garden courtyards.

As a general rule, hotels in Antigua are more expensive than in other parts of the country. Space is at a premium in and around the historic center, which has driven up the cost of real estate as well as the price you have to pay for a decent hotel room.

We have selected several nice and well-managed hotels we work with regularly and will be happy to make a reservation on your behalf. The hotels are located within a few city blocks from Ixchel Spanish School, approximately five to ten minutes on foot. They are also only a short distance from the Central Park and most places of interest in town are within easy walking distance.

Hotels normally require a deposit or advance payment to secure your reservation.

What Our Students Say ...

Samantha Smith

When I first arrived in Guatemala 3 weeks ago, I could barely say more than "no comprendo" in Spanish. It's amazing how far I've progressed in the little time I've spent at the school. I now have the knowledge and confidence to participate in conversations with Guatemalans!

Equally important as the quantity of learning I achieved is the quality; I found my classes so enjoyable, my teacher understood my learning style as well as my need for a mid-morning coffee. The relaxed atmosphere of the school is something I really appreciated!
