Mayan Ruins of Copan and Quirigua

The lowlands of Guatemala were the heartland of the ancient Mayan civilization that collapsed at the end of the first millenium. The ruins of many Mayan towns and cities have survived to this day and are explored and restored by archaeologists.

Copan – while lacking the monumental temple pyramids Tikal is famous for – was the most artistic of all the ancient Mayan sites and has taught archaeologists more about the Maya than any other archaeological site.

The Copan and Quirigua Tour is a seven-day tour that begins on Sunday and ends on Saturday.
